Storyboards {boutique}

August 27, 2009

One of my most popular selling boutique items are storyboards.  I just thought I’d share a few that I’ve created so current and future clients can see what the big deal is about!  Each storyboard is unique and custom created - they can be clean and modern or a bit funky with patterned backgrounds.  They range in size from 8×10 up to 30×30.  Prices start at $40 for the smallest size (8×10).  Storyboards over size 11×14 come mounted on matboard to insure longevity of your special photos.  Please note these are only samples of boards I’ve previously created - each storyboard is unique!

Amy: Bohkehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

admin: Lovely isn't it? Pulled that one off at an f/2.8 which is surprising. And captured in, of all places, Detroit.

Detroit {sunflare}

August 24, 2009

I’ve been working like a maniac on mastering sunflare.  Not the typical “golden hour” sunflare which is fairly easy to capture, but mid-afternoon-blinding-sun-awful-shooting-conditions-sunflare (kudos if you made it thru that run-on!).  It has been very challenging for me and I think I’ve finally nailed it with consistentency.  I learned that some of my lenses do not produce the results I want, while some offer just the right touch.  Downtown Detroit provides the perfect backdrop to practice as the buildings are tall enough to position the sun just right.  Minimal processing to this image - just sharpen for web and a frame!

Saesha {9 months}

August 24, 2009

This little one has the.most.amazing.eyes.  I love photographing this age because babies at 9 months are so alert, so happy, so curious!  Saesha was up past her bedtime for this session - believe it or not, she wasn’t the least bit cranky - -  she was definitely not going to miss out on the opportunity to expolore Ann Arbor!  Thank you for spending the evening with me and choosing me to photograph your family!

Is it Art? {heidelberg}

August 21, 2009

Nestled between Grand Boulevard and Gratiot in the City of Detroit is a little block of eye candy for photographers.  Tyree Guyton’s Heidelberg Project.  If you’ve never been, visit his website - you will be intrigued - and head to the city to see it in person.  Tyree’s vision is ever changing, his views with regard to improving lives through art, however, remain the same.  Tyree started the project in 1986 when he took it up on himself (along with some help from family) to clean up a block of Heidelberg Street.  He transformed the refuse into art.  Interesting stuff.

I headed Downtown a few weeks ago (yes, I’m blogging tidbits from a month ago) with a fellow photographer to walk around the city.  I’ve been to Heidelberg many times but wanted to show it to my new photo buddy.  I think she was shell shocked to see bicycles hanging from trees, boats full of stuffed animals, polka dots painted on a home, discarded telephones, a vaccuum graveyard. . . . .but she appreciated it, from a photographer’s standpoint, and took it as art.  What do you think?  Art?  Garbage?  An eyesore?

Sometimes before I have a client session, I take Luke in studio to make sure my lighting is spot on.  Sometimes I get crazy kung fu moves like this.  Oh, and excuse the jammies, it was bright and early - I still wonder how he gets this kind of energy without a cup of coffee.  And, for the record, the lighting wasn’t perfect for these, but I love ‘em anyway.

And sometimes I get loving gazes like this one.  He begged me to take his picture again that same afternoon - - I know that when he asks me to take his picture I’ll get good results.  Why?  Because it was his idea - - it happened on his terms.  What?  No shirt you say?  My porkchop hates getting messy and this was taken after playing with playdough.  He refused to wear a shirt while he was playing with it.  Yes, he’s three - any parent of a three-year-old recognizes their knack to be stubborn.

Little Sydney {6 months}

August 20, 2009

I love watching babies grow.  If you’ve been a reader of my blog for at least 6 months, you’ll know that I photographed Baby Sydney at the hospital, as a newborn and at 3 months.  I cannot believe how much she has changed since her last session 3 months ago.  She’s mobile!!  One thing hasn’t changed  - - still adorable!  Enjoy your sneak peek!

If you haven’t heard or if you missed my post a few weeks ago, I am in the running for local news station WDIV’s “4 The Best Guide” for best portrait photographer.  MANY THANKS to those of you who have voted already.  If you haven’t voted, and you have a moment, you can vote by clicking here.  I am flip flopping between 3rd and 5th place, which is very humbling for me considering I’ve only been in business for one year.  Contest ends August 31st!

And, because a post is not worth much without a photo, here’s one from our recent up north vacation.  This was taken on Lake Huron in Presque Isle.  Gotta love the fisheye lens - - looks like I was on top of the world!

14 Days New {baby riley}

August 15, 2009

I absolutely adore working with newborns and this little peanut was no exception.  Baby Riley is positively beautiful - perfect little toes and pink pursed lips.  Once she decided that the paparazzi wasn’t all that interesting, she decided doze off……..for the entire session………a photographer’s dream.  Thank you Demergis Family for having me over to your home!  Enjoy your sneak peek!
