Daniel {littlest hero}

February 28, 2009

Ahhh, Daniel.  Look at his beautiful brown eyes, his infectious smile, his little piggies!  I knew I would have fun with Daniel when he greeted me with the most amazing grin as I walked in the door.  I was paired up with the Spranger clan through the Littlest Heroes Project.  Daniel’s family is absolutely amazing and they were so FUN to hang out with.  A goofy, down-to-earth family who love each other immensely.  I’m thinking about inviting myself to their house on my crabby days as I know they could turn my mood around!

To learn more about Daniel, his progress and the obstacles he overcomes, or to make donations to Daniel, please visit: http://www.danieljohnmaxwellspranger.blogspot.com/.  FYI, his rockstar parents make these super adorable felt crowns to help out with medical bills.  Check them out on Daniel’s blog!  A great idea for kids’ birthdays or just to show your little one how special they are.

Thank you, Spranger Family, for inviting me to your home.  It was a pleasure.  Here’s your Sneak Peak!

I hope Mother Nature isn’t pulling one of those nasty tricks again.  You Michiganders what I’m talking about - she teases us with warm weather and it snows nearly 12″ the next day.  It was 45 degrees today and my Porkchop was just itching to get outside to play in the puddles.  Granted it was cloudy with some scattered sprinkles, but I’ll take it over 7 degrees and snow any day!!!

Lauren: awww you just helped me decide, I'm going to buy boots today! Maddi has the cutest raincoat but she *needs* matching boots. These look like a lot of fun!

A photography group I am involved with met up at the Belle Isle Conservatory yesterday morning.  Seeing all of the beautiful colors really makes me wish that Spring is just that much closer.  If you’ve never been to the Conservatory, its a great stop on the map if you’re downtown - no admission fee but they greatly appreciate donations.

Welcome to the New Blog!

February 13, 2009

Whew, you made it over to the new blog.  Yay!  Note that the old blog will no longer be updated.  Please update your bookmarks and/or google reader to check in on me over here - for reference, the new blog site is: www.mishkaphotography.com/blog.  As always, you can choose the option to visit the blog or site by visiting: www.mishkaphotography.com.

Lots of changes will be taking place with Mishka Photography.  Obviously, the blog is new - new material will be added to the menu bars above, including updated wedding and portrait pricing, full boutique item list, etc.  I am also excited to announce that I will be working with a new album company, www.finaoonline.com.  Although they serve photographers worldwide, Finao is local (Saline, Michigan) and I am ecstatic to be able to support a local company.  They offer a plethora of options, making each and every album truly unique.  Color swatches and sample albums are on the way.  Please check back for photos of Finao’s fine work!

So what do you think of my new spot on the www?  A big shout out to Lawrence over at www.tofurious.com for helping me with the logistics (i.e., HTML garble).  Lawrence, YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR.  I heart you!

Yep, I’m starting 2009 a little late.  The transition and biz updates were to take place in early January.  Slowly but surely. . .

And, because a post would not be complete without a photo:

Its the sound of summer.  I know, I know.  I’ve completely lost it.  But it is currently 7 freakishly cold degrees outside and I keep crossing my fingers Mother Nature will be kind and summer will make an early debut.  In the meantime, these photos from the end of last summer are the only thing that keep me going during the end of these winter months.  Its been a nasty season weather-wise.  I really need to feel the sunshine on my skin, the water on my toes and the wind in my hair.  Sigh.  Not too much longer. . .but for now this is as close as I can get.

Baby Sydney {take two}

February 1, 2009

A few posts down, you will see Baby Sydney less than 24 hours old.  Here she is 8 days old and just as adorable.  It took her a bit to fall asleep (she really wanted to work it for the camera), but it was well worth the wait.  Look at this little angel.  She has the greatest little lips!  The best part about photographing little Sydney is that she is signed up for my Baby’s First Year plan, which means I get to see her again in three months!  Thank you, Mom and Dad, for inviting me to your home to spend time with you and your little one - she is a joy.  Here’s your sneak peek!

Lisa: These are absolutely stunning Andrea! How on earth do you mold newborns into positions like this? Everything about these are perfect. I'll bet the new parents are happy with your photos!!!!!

mishkaphotography: Lisa - The biggest trick is for baby to have full belly, causing her to be very sleepy. Also, keeping baby warm helps too - I use a heating pad under all those blankets. Once babe is fast asleep, I've found that I can maneuver them any which way! Thank you for your kind words!

Hallie: OMG - these are the best! I love checking out the pictures on your site, and visit regularly. I absolutely adore this baby and these are possibly my favorite pictures so far. I adore the shot with the hat and her face all smooshed up. Perfect. You do fantastic work.

mishkaphotography: Hallie, Thank you so much! You must be semi-local as I saw the pic of you and your girls with the lighthouse in the background (taken in Presque Isle maybe?) on your site. Thank you for stopping by to check out the latest and greatest! Pssst. . . .let me know if you're ever interested in booking a session :)

Diane Cassidy: Take two photos of Sydney are just darling! We can't wait to see her in the flesh and hold her! You do a great job on out granddaughter!

Hallie: That was Sturgeon Point, in Harrisville, about 20 minutes south of Alpena. We go camping and spend a lot of time up there. We are very local, about 40 miles north of Detroit. I just might have to keep you in mind. I'll have a senior in high school in 4 years.....LOL
