The View From My Seat

September 22, 2008

Tell me this photo doesn’t make you want to be out on the water.  I’ve been anxious to get this shot for some time but the waves are either wrecking havoc or there are other boaters or freighters blocking the pristine view of what we call “the gauntlet.”  Not to mention when I ride on the bow of the boat, it is 99% likely that Coast Guard will hunt us down and lecture me about the dangers of bow riding.  This is taken on the Detroit River just approaching Lake Erie.

In a State of Denial

September 12, 2008

Summer is not over.  It just can’t be.  Look what I found sneaking around my driveway today.

I know school has started, we’re begining to get a taste of chilly weather in the evenings, the cider mills are officially open for business and college football has started - all marking the begining of Fall.  But still.  I’m just not ready to say goodbye to summer.  I’m not ready to wear wool sweaters and poofy jackets yet.  I’m not ready to say goodbye to the ice cream man who so willingly obliges when my son yells “STOP ice cream man” from the end of the driveway.  I’m not ready to close the windows and say goodbye to the nice breeze that flows through the house.  I’m just not ready.  I am most definitely not ready for that awful, fluffy, white nonsense to start covering every square inch of space.

So enjoy these next few weeks my friends.  Cook out on the barbeque, sit outside and enjoy a Corona, dip your toes in the lake, set up a sprinker for the kids, turn off the air and open your windows.  Take it all in and enjoy these last fleeting moments of summer.

Amy and Mike’s Wedding

September 9, 2008

I had the honor of photographing Amy & Mike’s wedding this past Saturday at Nazareth Hall in Grand Rapids, Ohio.  Their day was fabulous - wonderful weather, beautiful bride, outgoing groom and a gorgeous reception.  Thank you Amy and Mike for believing in my capabilities and allowing me to be a part of your special day.  I know the newlyweds are relaxing in Hawaii, but I’m posting these for the mother of the bride as I’m sure she is D.Y.I.N.G to see a few peeks.  Here are a handful, I’ll post more soon!

Yours Truly

September 8, 2008

Blech.  I hate photos of myself.  Even worse, I hate to be the one taking photos of myself - its really difficult!  I spent some time in studio today to update my self portraits for advertising purposes.  Here’s what I came up with.  I think I’m going to stick with the first photo for most circumstances.

Local Realtor - Andy K

September 8, 2008

I had the pleasure of photographing Andy Konopada today.  Andy is a local real estate agent and recently contacted me with the hope of updating his business cards, website and brochures with some brand spankin’ new photos.  If you’re in the market to buy/sell a home, I highly recommend getting in touch with Andy.  He’s so down to earth and laid back.  Just a great guy all around.  You can visit his site at: www.andykhomes.com.  Here’s a look.

So I’m a bit Peeved. . .

September 5, 2008

Today I learned that individuals on a scrapbooking message forum are attempting to lift/steal the Christmas Card templates I offer to clients, samples of which I have previously posted on this blog for clients to view.  The scrapbooking individuals intended to replicate the templates and pass them off as their own.  To say I am outraged is an understatement.  I wouldn’t be so upset if the individuals were prepared to offer credit where credit is due.  My gosh - they are scrapbooking - one would think they would want to express their individuality and uniqueness on paper - not steal someone else’s thoughts.  The internet can be such a useful tool (especially that wonderful Google Analytics I’ve previously discussed, otherwise I would not have learned of such fraud) but it is so overly abused.
